mmmmBop
Last night my sister Natalie and I payed $30 each to see Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, the band who opened for Hanson. The Sixers’ set was phenomenal - they are amazing performers. I really think they’ll hit it big in the next year or so. Because we shelled out so much money just to see the opening act, we decided to stick around for Hanson. I was never a Hanson fan back in their MmmBop days, but apparently the entire female population of Madison was. I think the female:male ratio was 45:1. When Hanson took the stage, I cringed as the entire theater erupted in shrieks comparable to ones for N’Sync in their peak of popularity
The oldest Hanson now likes to wear light colored jeans that are tight in a bad way. He also likes to rock out on guitar solos looking like he is having a seizure or an attack of Tourrette’s. The middle Hanson appears to be unable to grow facial hair. He’s strikingly beautiful in a Gwenyth Paltrow kind of way. The youngest looks exactly the same. He sits behind the drumset, probably cursing God that he was born into this family. There are also two random black guys in the band now. They stand in the back on either side of the drumset playing the guitar and bass. I can’t help but wonder how they got involved in the tour.
After fifteen minutes of relentlessly mocking them, Natalie and I left. I’m a little sad we didn’t stay to watch the crowd melt down during MmmBop.
