awkward no more

The doors to the Social Sciences building at UW-Madison were probably the worst designed doors in the world.  The hinges were near the centers of the doors, not the edges, so when you opened them (or attempted to) there was no leverage.  They were heavy, tended to close on you before you were through the dooway, and created an all-around awkward  experience.  These doors recently got replaced.  Although they are now exponentially easier to use, I have to feel a little sad.  I always looked forward to walking through that awkward place just outside the building where everyone manages to look like an uncoordinated fool.  Sadly, my school has just lot a quirk and a little bit of its charm.
