For the past few weeks, there has been an incessant pounding noise coming from the room directly above mine. It happens at times of the day when it really shouldn’t bother me, like at 2:00 pm on a weekday. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what the noise could be, but then I had a revelation. The only reasonable explanation was that someone was playing the video game
Rockband. Of course! The answer made so much sense. Why hadn’t I thought of it before? After another week of listening to the afternoon jam session - presumably video game playing from upstairs - I wanted to confirm my hypothesis. I went upstairs to investigate, knocked on the door, and was greeted by a nearly naked boy who looked as if he had just woken up. Still somewhat convinced of my
Rockband theory, I confidently stated, “So, you must be playing
Rockband, right?” He looked a bit confused, replied, “No,” and then glared at me. I became a little flustered and started, “Oh, well, I thought I heard something. It’s been driving me crazy! Have you been hearing the drumming noise?” He kept on glaring and I began backing away, feeling like a fool. I managed to sheepishly squeeze in, “Well I live right downstairs. If you find out, why don’t you tell me? Sorry for bother-” before he slammed the door and I ran away.
